View MoreI am a dad with two children. I live remotely and use solar energy batteries to back up the power supply. Few years ago someone recommended me to buy an Ecoflow River Pro, which I did. With the back up of Ecoflow River Pro, power outages was eventually becoming a thing of the past. We also go camping and live out in the bush many times in a year. I would love to win an Ecoflow system as it would supplement my emergency needs.
Back in the day, before the wonderful world of technology of EcoFlow, power outages in Far North Queensland were something we just had to endure. Now, with EcoFlow, everything has changed. When the power goes out, I know my family can stay comfortable, our food stays safe, and we can stay connected no matter what the weather throws at us. What used to be a stressful waiting game has turned into peace of mind, knowing EcoFlow has our backs in the toughest conditions.
My dad still handles blackouts the old way. Candles, no TV, no fans, no opening the fridge, and hoping power comes back before it spoils. In the old days, at least landline phones worked. Basically life stops. These days, I show my dad how modern day backup power changes everything. Portable lights that are bright as house lights, fridges are running, fans keep us cool, phones and laptops are charged, and I’m working from home, all thanks to Ecoflow.
My biggest childhood memory of isolation without power was the 1974 floods. I was only 8 at the time and we were forced to use candles. But unlike the days of old this time other than the weather event outside not much would change for us inside the house. No refrigerated or frozen food would be lost, the TV and even internet would remain available, microwave, kettle, cook top, mobile phone, & camp lights, all available. How? One word… Ecoflow!
Candles and the old Dolphin Torch were always handy to have on hand, we didn't have mobile phones back then so never had to have them charged. These days technology has come so far, you can now go camping out whoop whoop and still have power on hand with your Ecoflow, and now on the rare occasion when your teenager doesn't have their mobile phone in their hand they can still use it and charge it at the same time.
When we were kids a blackout meant that dinner was cooked on a kerosene heater and we had hurricane lamps for lighting. Our last blackout happened when we were away when Cyclone Alfred hit QLD and NSW so when we got back everything in our freezers and fridge were all defrosted. We still had 3 days of no power. We have a battery shower which we plugged in to our Ecoflow River+ 600w so we could at least feel like we belonged to the human race.
