Solar blanket and PV panel efficiency is a highly specific metric. It measures the percentage of direct sunlight hitting a solar blanket’s photovoltaic cells that is converted into DC electricity. Solar blanket efficiency percentages start as low as single digits and peak in the mid-20s. 23% is considered very high efficiency. Solar blanket efficiency is determined using Standard Test Conditions: 1,000 watts per square meter (1 kW/m2) of solar irradiance (sunlight) at 25°C (77°F).
